Together we are standing up to cancer

Cork Cancer Care Centre Launch A Gift of Hope This Christmas

2020 has been a challenging year for charities in Ireland, especially small local charities. Located alongside Paul Street Car-Park with a vibrant purple door is Cork Cancer Care Centre, supporting cancer warriors for over 8 years. Continuing to support through the COVID-19 pandemic with counselling services, their incredible Cancer Warriors WhatsApp group and The Blankets of Hope.

Unfortunately, the fundraising efforts have all but disappeared for the year with no coffee mornings taking place, no supermarket bag packing, no annual dinner and many other fundraisers the charity would have received kind donations from which they rely on to operate and keep their doors open each year. They receive no government funding, and all services are offered for free, so these vital fundraisers have been instrumental in keeping the charity operational each year. In 2020, the charity has seen a major decline in donations.

Linda Goggin James, General Manager of Cork Cancer Care Centre said “We are always so grateful for every donation we receive, a little goes a long way. However, with 2020 preventing so much of what we once relied on to fund the charity we have had to review how to raise some of the much-needed finances for the centre to continue their work in 2021.”

The charity has launched just in time for Christmas ‘Give a Gift of Hope’ with a virtual giving Christmas Tree. Celebrate the warrior in your life both past and present by sending a gift of the Cork Cancer Care Centre flower of hope, the iris this Christmas. Your donation will be of vital support to the charity in supporting those on the journey with cancer, and for those now healing with providing both counselling and holistic therapies.
